At the commencement of the protest campaign thugs of the government tried to sabotage it by throwing stones and other missiles while police and the riot squad stood by to protect the thugs. However, when people started arriving in thousands government goons retreated.
The demonstrators demanded the government to immediately release Gen. Fonseka who is being detained on false accusations.

Thousands of people joined a massive demonstration held opposite the Court Complex at Hultsdorf in Colombo today protesting against the inhuman abduction of Gen. Sarath Fonseka by Mahinda Rajapakse regime. The demonstration was organized by the political parties that supported Gen. Fonseka.
