A group of people in civil clothes who had come in two buses broke into the area several Bhikkus were engaged in a ‘Fast unto death’ demanding the release of Gen. Sarath Fonseka and abducted the Bhikkus this afternoon after carrying out a savage attack on them. The goons in civilian clothes carried out the abduction with the protection of the police who had been deployed at the site since this morning. A special police posse had been deployed in the area as ‘Lankatruth’ had reported earlier and suddenly the police personnel surrounded the area where the Bhikkus were engaged in the ‘fast unto death.’ Meanwhile, the group of goons who had come in two buses brutally assaulted the Bhikkus.
After attacking the Bhikkus the goons forcefully carried the Bhikkus to the buses they had come in and left the scene. The police had given the goons protection to carry out their act. While the goons were attacking the Bhikkus the police had not allowed anyone around the place to come near the scene or assist the Bhikkus.
The Bhikkus who were engaged in the ‘Fast unto death’ have been taken away by the goons and still the whereabouts of these Bhikkus is not known.
